The Crossings at Bennett Avenue Dedication – Thursday June 1, 2023

The Crossings at Bennett Avenue
New Homes for 13 Families!
A 90+-degree day didn’t stop nearly 200 people from celebrating 13 new homeowner families as they cut the ribbons on their new one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes at The Crossings at Bennett Avenue in Randolph.
After more than 18 months of construction and sweat equity work on their homes, many of the families were overcome with emotion at the outpouring of community support. Volunteers, donors, corporate partners, Morris Habitat board members past and present, and Habitat staff attended the June 1 dedication ceremony. The 25-home project is the largest in Morris Habitat’s history.
“This is a dream come true for our family,” said a joyful Ilham, one of the new homeowners. “Right now, we have four children, and we’re living in a cramped, two bedroom apartment. This home will give us room to grow.”
Attendees also included U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11th District), who was instrumental in securing $3 million in federal funding for the project; N.J. State Senators Tony Bucco and Aura Dunn; Morris County Deputy Director Christine Myers and Commissioner Stephen Shaw; and Randolph Township Mayor Lou Nisivoccia.
Several of the new homeowner families will move in within the next few weeks. Phase ll of the project, which includes 12 homes, is underway and expected to be completed in early 2024. The homeowners-in-progress have already been selected and are busy putting in their sweat equity hours to help build their homes.

A special THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this happen!
