The Project:
Seven new two-story single-family homes will be built in the Budd Lake section of Mount Olive Township in Morris County, using our proprietary prototype architectural design. Using the same square footage, a home can be built with different layouts to include 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms. Each home will have a basement, a driveway and an attached one-car garage. All homes will be accessible and adaptable, as required by Uniform Housing Affordability Control/Council on Affordable Housing.
The seven dwellings will be individually metered for utilities, with the exception of water. Since this area of Mount Olive Township is not served by public water, a well will be installed for each home. In addition, each home will have all major kitchen appliances, a washer and dryer and central air conditioning. All homes are ENERGY STAR certified, and most are built to LEED standards. Green or reusable materials will be used whenever possible. These green building standards provide long-term energy cost savings to our homeowners. New home warranties will be provided for all seven homes.
Mount Olive Township donated the vacant property to Greater Middlesex & Morris Habitat for Humanity. These seven affordable homes are included in the township’s Housing Element and Fair Share Plan, and they contributed $750,000 to the project from their Municipal Affordable Housing Trust Fund to assist with construction costs. Funds were also provided by a grant from the New Jersey Affordable Housing Trust Fund in the amount of $1,646,480 and by a $50,000 donation from the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, State Court of New Jersey.
The planned completion date is 2027.
