Project:

This single-family home, in a pleasant residential neighborhood in Byram Township in Sussex County, was vacant for several years due to a foreclosure. Because of the poor condition of the home, Morris Habitat for Humanity gutted it down to the studs and completely renovated it.

The home was generously donated in May 2017 by Wells Fargo through their Community and Urban Stabilization Program (CUSP) and the National Community Stabilization Trust (NCST). Wells Fargo gave an additional cash donation for repairs due to the condition of the home.

Byram Township contributed $50,000 from their affordable housing trust fund toward the renovation of the home. The completed home will help offset the municipality’s affordable housing obligation.

A special thank-you goes to Sussex County Habitat for Humanity for their continued collaborative spirit that allows Morris Habitat to offer its assistance, resulting in welcoming another Habitat family to their own home in Sussex County.

Preliminary site work began in September 2018. Demolition was completed over the winter. In spring 2019, work began on interior framing and a new roof and siding. The dedication ceremony was held in August, and the family moved in by the end of the month.
