Let’s Build Together for Our Veterans

Thank you for helping to make the 2016 Hammer for Heroes a big success! About 300 volunteers and participants framed over 30 walls for two new veterans’ homes on an especially hot and humid day. Church groups, families and businesses came out to help with the project. There’s nothing quite as exciting as seeing walls raised and, at the same time, funds raised for the Harding Avenue homes in Dover.

Entire families with parents, grandparents and children took pride in learning skills and building the frames. After the individual frames were completed, they were stood up to show the layout of the first floor of the house, including where windows and doors will go.

Home Depot brought their staff and helped kids build bird houses. Picatinny Arsenal also came with a fire truck and Humvee for children to play on and pretend to drive. Other activities included face painting, crafts, a bouncy house and free food and music.
