In just 19 hours over two rainy days, more than 400 volunteers raised the home from slab to roof, including dry wall, windows, doors, siding, electrical, plumbing and landscaping. They used wall panels which had been framed a few weeks beforehand by students of Passaic Valley Regional High School on their school lawn. Volunteers spent a few more months taking care of paint and trim work, tiling and exterior finishes. The home is ENERGY STAR certified for energy efficiency. In 2014, this project won an Award of Excellence from the Metropolitan Builders & Contractors Association of New Jersey for the “Best Affordable Mt. Laurel Home.”
