Jefferson Township provided the land, which was the site of the old Hurdtown School. Many local individuals and businesses contributed to the project at the Hoedown for Humanity fundraiser held at Camp Jefferson in 2006. Sussex County Habitat for Humanity volunteers met the Lanchipa family when Helar helped at the Brooklyn Mountain Road project in Hopatcong, and they often worked on his home.
Family:
Helar and Ada Lanchipa with 4 children. Helar (from Peru) and Ada (from the Dominican Republic) met at an English as a Second Language class in Dover. He works as an electro-mechanical assembler for a medical testing equipment firm, and is pursuing an associate’s degree in electronics engineering at the County College of Morris.
