Seasoned Habitat Volunteers
Can’t wait to get involved? Please see the “Volunteer Now” and “Come Build with Us” opportunities on our home page.
Construction
You don’t need to be an expert in construction to help out on a work site. A positive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to work with others is all that we ask. On-site construction work is the most popular of Habitat’s volunteer opportunities. We make every effort to incorporate all willing volunteers. Openings for construction workers over the next few weeks are listed under “Come Build With Us” on the home page. Check the Work Site page to find out what to expect during a work day. Please DO NOT show up at the work site without notice. Thank you!
Teams/Committees
Not handy with a hammer? Dangerous with power tools? Would you rather build a budget than a bathroom? Are you better at raising money than roofs? Do ladders make you light-headed? Why not volunteer on a team?
It takes more than construction volunteers to build a Habitat home. Behind the scenes, volunteers raise money, find property, provide outreach to the community, plan events, select the families and much, much more. Each of Habitat’s teams, described on the Organization page, welcomes new members interested in lending their time and talents or learning a new skill.
Office
Volunteers are welcome at the Morris Habitat office at 102 Iron Mountain Rd., Suite H, Mine Hill from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. Volunteers perform a wide range of administrative tasks, primarily data entry. Office volunteers must commit to a regular schedule for a minimum of 6 months and be comfortable working on a computer. Register for an Office Help position from the “Volunteer Now” section of the home page.
Other Ways to Help
Not sure where you fit but want to get your feet wet volunteering? Check out these ideas: provide lunch or snacks at an event or construction site, make a gift for our homeowner families, organize a fundraiser with your friends, or help put up fliers in your town for an upcoming event.
