Thank you to our Homeowner Relations Team, honored as our Perseverance Partners of 2005!
Homeowner Relations is one of our most challenging and rewarding teams. This team is awarded the impressive job of selecting our Habitat homeowners. The family selection process begins with a pool of a couple hundred applicants. After the applications are reviewed for completeness and meeting the requirements of household income level and having a minor child, members of the Homeowner Relations Team visit those that still qualify to conduct a home interview. The family’s ability and willingness to partner are reviewed in addition to their level of need, dictated by their current living situation.

Selecting a handful of families from such a large pool is heartwarming, but also painful as our selection team has come to know and love many of the families that will be rejected due to the limited land available for building affordable housing. Please help us by watching for empty lots or run-down buildings that we may be able to purchase or rebuild.
Not only is this dedicated team involved in the multi-month family selection process, but they also work hard to partner with the families that become Habitat homeowners. Many of our families come to us without any knowledge of what it means to be a homeowner, so we provide them with the backup, education and support needed to be successful. Our Homeowner Relations Team is also involved in reviewing the applications for our Home Repair Ministry, a program where we provide the labor and expertise to do simple repairs for low-income homeowners.
