Lozier Road

Mount Olive

rendering of Lozier Road home

A new 3-bedroom single-family home will soon be built on a steep and winding road in the Budd Lake section of Mount Olive Township. Mount Olive Township donated the Lozier Road building lot after purchasing the property with its Affordable Housing Trust Fund. Part of an adjacent lot was added to make the final piece of land conform to zoning rules. Youth United will also help fund this project. Pro bono professional services have been contributed by attorney Paul Zelenty, Esq., architect Marjorie B. Roller, surveyor Rich Smith, engineer Fred Stewart and planner Bruce Katona. Our 63rd project will be ENERGY STAR certified for energy efficiency.

Maximum income limits for homeowner applicants are $39,517 to $50,932, based on family size. Minimum family size is 3 people; maximum is 6 people. Selling price will be $134,000 with a zero-interest 30-year fixed mortgage. The home will have a 30-year deed restriction that allows modest equity upon resale, but mandates that the home be sold to another qualifying low-income family. Family selection is underway from applications that were submitted by the September 16 deadline.

Construction will be delayed until spring 2012 due to a technical compliance issue between the NJ Dept. of Environmental Protection, the NJ Highlands Council and local building codes.
