eBay Sales

eBay Giving Works is an easy way to support affordable housing. Make a difference and boost your sales at the same time! Your items will stand out with the distinctive charity ribbon icon in search results. Simply list an item on eBay and select Morris Habitat for Humanity to benefit. You may donate from 10% to 100% of the final sale price, with a minimum of $5.00. eBay Giving Works listings tend to attract more bids and higher final sale prices than identical items that are not benefiting a cause. When your item sells, eBay will credit a portion of the Insertion and Final Value Fees back to you, equal to the percentage that you elected to donate. You will receive a tax-deductible receipt for your donation.

Shoppers can also make an impact. Every time you buy an item from the Morris Habitat eBay page, the seller will donate 10% to 100% of the final sale price to our cause. You will find items listed by individual sellers as well as building supplies from our ReStore.

GoodSearch, GoodShop & GoodDining

GoodSearch.com is a search engine (powered by Yahoo!) that donates half its revenue from advertisers, about a penny per search, to the user's favorite cause. Search at GoodSearch with Morris Habitat pre-selected as the charity you want to support. Even more money can be earned from their online shopping mall and dining programs. Shop at GoodShop by clicking through to more than 2,400 top store sites to see coupon offers. An average of 3% of your online purchases goes to your designated charity. When you register for GoodDining by providing your email address and marketing permission, at least 2.5% of every dollar spent at thousands of participating restaurants, bars and clubs will automatically be donated to the charity of your choice. House Sponsorships

House sponsorships provide the major fundraising vehicle for home-building efforts. The amount usually ranges from $15,000 to $80,000, depending on the type of sponsorship. Sponsors not only provide a monetary donation, but, if desired, can also provide volunteers to participate in construction. House sponsors can include corporations, civic clubs, skilled trade groups, associations, community organizations, faith-based groups, and individuals. Stocks

Donations of appreciated stock provide much needed funding for MHFH and two special tax advantages for you: Donating an appreciated stock enables you to claim the current fully appreciated pre-tax market value as a tax-deductible charitable contribution. By transferring the stock to Morris Habitat as a charitable gift, you avoid all capital gains taxes.

Example: You purchase 500 shares of publicly traded stock in 1998 for $10,000. Three years later, those shares are now worth $16,500. When you donate the stocks to Morris Habitat, you may be able to claim the full $16,500 as a deduction (depending on your adjusted gross income), and you will pay no capital gains tax on the appreciation.

Please consult your financial advisor to determine what works best for you.

Toner Cartridges and Cell Phones

Help to house a family in need by recycling your empty ink-jet cartridges and old cell phones. Recycle First pays Morris Habitat’s Youth United for each cartridge and cell phone that can be re-manufactured. Please drop them off at the office or the ReStore in Mine Hill. Contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this e-mail address) at 973.891.1934 to learn more about the program and how you can help with your office, school or organization.

The Dale Anderson Memorial Fund

Morris Habitat established a Memorial Fund in honor of former Florham Park Mayor, Dale Anderson, for our home repair ministry. Upon his untimely death, family and friends of Dale Anderson chose to recognize him by supporting a much-needed ministry: helping very low-income or disabled homeowners with minor home repairs to their homes. The home repair ministry helps homeowners whose income is too low to allow them to hire people through normal ways to work on repairs so that they may continue to live in a decent affordable home. The funds help offset repair costs to very low-income families in need.

Your donation to the Dale Anderson Memorial Fund enables Morris Habitat for Humanity to assist more families in need. For more information or to find out how to donate, please call the Morris Habitat offices at 973.891.1934.

Habitat Faithful Fund

Morris Habitat for Humanity is blessed with many eager volunteers, but none are more dedicated than those known as the Habitat Faithful (originally called the Friday Faithful). Some members are very skilled and have worked in construction during their careers; others come by their skills via do-it-yourself home projects. The Habitat Faithful Fund was created to honor these construction volunteers who give so much of their time and energy. Honor or memorial gifts can be made in the name of a particular Habitat Faithful member or to the fund in general. Ask family and friends to donate to the fund to honor someone for Father’s Day, birthdays, special anniversaries or holidays.

Proceeds will go toward incidentals needed to make a house a home. For example, at both Hussa Place in Denville and Rowe Street in Morristown, front lights were purchased from the fund in memory of Bob Kelly, one of our Habitat Faithful who passed away. Brass plaques were placed on the houses to acknowledge the donations.
